Here's a little bit more about why so many farmers end up choosing Onefarm for their cattle yard system...

But you don’t have to take our word for it

HERE’S WHAT OTHER FARMERS SAY

Our yards use curved races and round forcing pens

These are better than straight ones as cattle naturally want to go back in the direction they came from. With our designs, cattle are encouraged to turn 180 degrees and this improves overall flow.

Stress-free Stock Flow

This is how we do it...

Cattle must see somewhere to go or they're likely to hesitate

We make sure our designs have the right race curvature. Cattle must be able to see at least two cattle ahead, or else they won’t move smoothly through the race. This is why we avoid any sharp bends where possible to ensure no ‘stock traps’ are created.

We use visual barriers in high intensity areas

Stock flow can get congested when the animals are seeing too much of the operator. With our visual barriers, cattle are more relaxed and move through the race and forcing pen faster.

We calculate the right sizes for your specific needs

We calculate the right race length and forcing yard size for your specific needs. At the end of the day, it’s a mathematical equation to ensure proportional balance.

My vet said: "what great yards, they're really easy for us vets to use"

So happy with my purchase

Rachael Fegan - Otago

We love the forcing circle. We think the bent gates that line it are awesome now that we’ve work with them. We love how it’s a very safe system.

James - Central Otago

The best part of the process was the communication. I could just pick up the phone and chat with the team directly. Any time.

Custom Commercial Yard

Location: The Catlins

Client: Cameron Clark

Installation: Custom Fencing

Cameron needed a new set of yards after splitting his farm in two and being left without yards. The 186 was the option that worked best for his mob sizing and site, so it was an easy choice to make. This is a great option for medium to large operations with the appropriate holding pens to support.

Commercial Yard

Location: Morrinsville

Client: Cole Townsend

Installation: RVS Fencing

Cole and father Trevor recently phased out their dairy operation and have replaced dairy cows for beef cattle. The 104 ticked the boxes as a safe and efficient option for their mob sizes. They’ve nailed the holding pens that feed the yard to ensure all parts of the farm are catered to a great medium sized option with the extras.

We are happy to help, no matter what part of the process you are at.

Maxxus vs Commercial

What yard series do you need?

The Maxxus series is designed for Lifestyle block owners. Panels are 1.6m tall, rather than our 1.8m commercial panels. Despite being slightly shorter, the Maxxus panels still have 6 horizontal rails.

Maxxus yards can be used for sheep as well because the yards have tighter rail spacing. The post and rail in the Maxxus panels are slightly lighter than the Commercial range meaning they're more portable and great value for money for smaller operators.

We wanted to design a range of yard equipment that was fit for purpose and great value for smaller operators. This way lifestyle block owners don’t have to overcapitalise.

Maxxus

The Commercial series has been designed for large operators that need to rely on the brute strength of their yards day-in and day-out.

All panels and gates are built using stronger steel than most of our competitors - approximately 15% stronger overall. Our Commercial range can deliver, no matter how large your operation is, with a variety of different panel and gate options.

You can also opt to have circular forcing pens and non-stock working areas. The focus for our Commercial series is maximizing stock flow, optimal safety, and unbeatable strength.

HERE ARE SIX REASONS TO GO FOR STEEL OVER TIMBER

Easier to erect

Once you've got your pad down, installing your yards are straight forward and intuitive. For our Maxis yards, we provide a colour coded plan for installation. For Commercial yards, our installation teams will manage this for you to ensure your asset is primed for ultimate use.

05

Future saleability

Due to the value retention aspect of an investment in steel yards, they're a very attractive second hand proposition. If they're sold with a property sale, they add real value to the next user where older timber yards are often seen as a liability.

03

Value retention

A solid set of hot dipped steel yards will hold their value for a long time. Hot dipped steel yards maintain their condition over time and therefore their value.

01

Almost zero maintenance

Once your yard is up, there's nothing to worry about. All steel is hot dipped galvanised to last!

02

Flexibility of change

Flexibility of change presents a strong case for going steel over timber. You're not confined by your original designs. Completely modular in nature.

04

Superior strength

Onefarm yards use a stronger pipe structure than others in the market with thicker steel, meaning our panels and gates are often up to 15% stronger than our competitors. Superior strength and longevity.

06

But you don’t have to take our word for it

HERE’S WHAT OTHER FARMERS SAY

I'd say there's obviously been some good feedback from whoever had yards in the past.

The most common mistake farmer’s make when selecting their yard…Is cramping their yards. Cattle need enough space to move and turn.

Doesn’t matter how much you invested or how strong your steel is, you’ll be slowed down if you get this wrong. Overfilled yards stress out cattle, ruin stock flow, and increase the risk of unnecessary user injury.

That’s why we put so much effort into our yard design. We’ll work with you, so you get the design that’ll work best for your farm, whether you’re running a commercial operation or a lifestyle block.

Right now, we’re offering zero-obligation consultations. Whether you need new yards next week or next year, we’ll be able to give you the advice you need.

Our yards are designed to maximize stock flow. All designs are modular, providing flexibility of change whenever needed. Complete consultation process before committing to any earthworks.

Efficiency

Onefarm cattle yards use two-way slam latches. These latches minimises rattling and keep operators safe when needing to move fast. We use non-stock working areas and various access gate options meaning operators can work comfortably without getting into risky situations. Our yards use anti-bruise oval rails. This means no sharp points.

Safety

In most cases, our steel is 15% stronger than what the other guys are selling. Onefarm yards are designed and tested here in New Zealand. For superior strength and longevity in the elements, our steel is hot dipped galvanised after welding.
